“The exhibition is a chapter of history linking the ancient with the modern times and demonstrating the lasting impact of the Ancient Egyptian culture.” Welt am Sonntag
A touch of eternity
Life and death in Ancient Egypt: Everyday culture and the belief in the afterlife and death cult are the core topics of the exhibition. Burial objects and mummies provide insight into sepulchral customs; ceramics, crafts and hieroglyphics tell us about the everyday life around 3100 B.C. until the Roman Age around 400 A.D. The spatial division into two levels permits the contextual separation of the Ancient Egyptian conception of the living “everyday world” from that of the ulterior “underworld“.
